Vijf Amerikaanse vrienden reizen naar Panama om te ontspannen en met elkaar op te trekken. Ze raken bevriend met een lokale vrouw in de bar van hun hotel en - ondanks onheilspellende geruchten - gaat deze laatste tegen de wil van haar broer in en brengt de Amerikanen naar de ongerepte watervallen in de nabijgelegen jungle. Wat begint als een onschuldig uitstapje naar een pittoreske waterval verandert al snel in een verschrikkelijke tragedie wanneer ze plotseling vermist raakt. Wanneer de nacht valt beseffen de vrienden te laat de waarheid achter de geruchten - de legendarische, bloeddorstige Chupacabra zit achter hen aan.
